This year my class load includes one small section of 6th graders, an intermediate English Language Development class, and 100 8th graders, extremely unevenly divided between 3 class sections. I am working on creating my own thematic units to reorganize my curriculum and include more non-fiction and relevant topics. Right now we are reading around the topic of race, culture and identity which is so engaging and fun to cover with the kids. We just wrapped up our unit on intelligence, learning and the brain which was really amazing as well. I have also created units on technology and the future, and creativity and self expression which I am really looking forward to.
